About Airfix A10600 Battle of Britain 1/72 Scale Gift Set

In the years immediately following World War II it became traditional for a Spitfire and a Hurricane to lead the Victory Day flypast over London. From that event there grew the idea to form an historic collection of flyable aircrat, initilly to commemorate the RAF's major battle honour, The Battle of Britain, and more recently and with broadened scope, to commemorate the RAF's involvment in all the campaigns of World War II. Thus in 1957 the Historic Aircraft Flight was formed at Biggin Hill. This is today known as the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, now based at RAF Conningsby, in Lincolnshire. Airfix created this set as a tribure to all the aircrews that served during World War II.

In 2007 The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight celebrated its 50th year now performing up to 700 flights a year in remembrance of those who fought in the World War II.

This Gift Set includes three 1:72 kits; Avro Lancaster B MkI, Hawker Hurricane MkIIk, Supermarine Spitfire Mk11a and a exclusive triple pronged stand enabling the aircraft to be displayed in their flying formation.

This Gift Set also includes the required paints to complete the model (12 Humbrol Acrylic Paints), a paint brush and glue (Humbrol Precision Poly Cement).
