customer from Middlesbrough recently wrote to us with
a short passage on his experience of flying Kites.
He owns two kites a popular K2 Sport Brookite Kite
and a more traditional Brookite cutter 2. We thought
we would share his little letter with you.
Kite Flying its amazing - and
not everyone knows it!
Sports Kites have been with us for many
years and have offered persons both young and old
an extremely challenging and entertaining way to enjoy
ourselves in the open outdoors.
Whether you are stood alone flying the
kite of your choice or whether your sports kite is
being used by your younger grand children, the amount
of joy and pleasure this activity brings accounts
for many free hours spent by many.

Why is it so popular.
My reasons are simple. from the very
first day of flying, the challenge of getting the
kite into the air was my first big goal and although
I am now more used to it, i can not help but think
back to my earlier days when I was a complete novice.
I always relive that feeling of accomplishment after
I had raised the kite into the air. That said I did
not have any time to reflect at that time. As the
kite pulled against the wind, feeling the air resistance
increase and watching the kite whether its was my
sports kite or traditional kite, soar into the air
provided me with great pleasure.
This of course brought the next challenge,
keeping it there. With changing wind direction and
speeds, swirling conditions, kite flying is certainly
a challenge completely opposite to my initial thoughts.
As I have grown older I am less able
to chase that super fast sports kite across the ground,
but having developed a little more skill than in my
earlier days I do still relish my time flying. And
what better way than to now share this with my grandchildren.
They certainly can move faster than I, but they will
learn.
Why my kites?
 I
don't purport to be an expert on the many different
types of kites available today. The kites I use are
the ones I have used for some time and are from the
popular kite manufacturer Brookite. They have proved
themselves a reliable product, sturdy and pleasant
to the eye.
My sports kite and the more traditional
cutter make for varied flying and something that presents
challenges each time I fly.
Why am I writing this?
The main reason I write is to hopefully
reflect the pleasure I experience from flying my kites.
It is not something that everyone does and having
seen Stockton Modeller release an ezine every so often
i thought it would be something they may find useful
for this purpose and to share. I also hope to convert
a few of those that may not have experienced this
absolutely charming past time, have a go, get yourself
an inexpensive kite and fly.
Having been a customer for many years,
firstly with my model railway layout and now with
my kites, I can honestly say Stockton Modeller make
my purchase so simple. With their new online ordering,
as old as I may be, even I can now order on the Internet
and although I could have my kite delivered, I Much
prefer that short trip into Stockton town centre where
I can visit the store and steal a little peep at everything
else available. needless to say my Grandson likes
coming too.
