Network SouthEast Co-Co Diesel Electric Class 50 'Superb' (weathered)
The Class 50 was built following trials of the English Electric prototype DP2 locomotive. They began their working days on the West Coast Main Line between Crewe and Glasgow/Edinburgh. This was a temporary position, as from 1972 these locomotives were moved to the Western Region for use on the Lodnon Paddington to Bristol and the South West routes. When HSTs were introduced on to the main lines, the 50s were put to work on the Southern's Waterloo to Exeter route. They were slowly withdrawn, with the last in March 1994.
