Since 1968 the Air Zermatt became famous in commercial, touristic and rescue sector and established one's reputation over the nationalborder. The Air Zermatt occupy over 50 employees and operate with 8 helicopters, from these 8 helicopters, the EC135 T2 is the newest, operating since end of 2002. The EC135 T2 is equiped with medical equipment, a rescue hoist and a search headlight. In the 70's the Air Zermatt carried out the first direct rescue from the notorious northwall of Eiger, Badile and Matterhorn. Many different rescue systems has been developped in these many years of experience in mountain rescue. The rescue helicopters are occupated with anesthesia doctors and rescue medic. Their help is called over 1.200 times per year.
