| Description: | 07546 Kenworth K100 Aerodyne In 1917 two businessmen, Edgar Worthington and his partner Frederick Kent, formed the Gersix Truck Company. Increasing demand, causing a shortage of capital, gave rise to a new name Ken-Worth, which was derived from the names of the partners Kent and Worthington. Thus in 1923 the Kenworth Motor Truck Company with its head office in Seattle came into being. The following years were characterised by increasing production and expansion. Kenworth was one of the first manufacturers to introduce trucks with diesel engines and the efficient COE (cab-over-engine) versions that provided a significant increase in payload. In 1961 the first K100 (K short for Kent) came out, a design made to maximise payload. Over the years the tractors became ever more powerful, but also more luxurious. Different versions had two beds, refrigerators and even kitchenettes. Subsequent modifications in the 80s led to more efficient, reliable and long-lasting tractors. This Kenworth K100 tractor, like the original, is equipped with an aerodynamic roof superstructure, sleeping compartment with TV and a large tilting driver's cab over a 400 bhp turbocharged engine.
