Mobility, firepower, protection - the Leopard 2 has achieved a near perfect balance of these requirements. Its latest version, the Leopard 2 A5, is in service with the German component of the Allied Command Europe Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC) since the end of 1995. The most significant modification compared to its predecessors is the wedge-shaped armour on the turret.
