The second regiment of Cuirassiers was set up in 1665 as the Pfuel Regiment. Whereas with other regiments of cuirassiers the colour of the buff jerkin was always lighter and in 1770 it became white, at the beginning of the Seven Years War, K2 wore a conspicuous yellow. This was retained up to 1806. In the Franco-Prussian War the 3rd Squadron capitulated on 16th October 1806 in Erfurt, the other four in the Bl cher Corps on 7th November at Ratekau. The Cuirassiers were armed with the straight cut-and-thrust sword, two pistols and a gun. Although the name cuirassier refers to a breastplate, these were not worn in 1806.
